Project Overview

The National Air and Space Museum is a 160,000 square foot facility containing priceless artifacts related to the history of air and space travel and development. The 2019-2024 modernization project involved a complete replacement of the mechanical systems during a two-phase construction process. With Phase 2 wrapping up in late 2024 this renovation is a focal point of visitor attention on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
